Privacy policy

The short version

We don’t have accounts, we don’t sell data, and we don’t have a newsletter. The only personal information we ever hold is whatever you type into the contact form. Google Analytics and Amazon see you the way they see you on most of the web, and that’s described below.

Who we are

Chainring Club (chainringclub.com) is operated by Type 5 Marketing LLC. For anything on this page, contact info@chainringclub.com.

What we collect

The contact form

If you write to us, we receive your name, your email address, and your message. That gets emailed to us so we can reply. We keep it for as long as the conversation is useful and we don’t add you to any list — there is no list.

The form checks how long the page was open before you submitted it, and briefly counts submissions per IP address. That is anti-spam, it happens in memory, and it isn’t stored or used for anything else.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read. It sets cookies and collects things like approximate location, device, browser and the pages you visit. We use it in aggregate — we’re looking at whether the chain lube page is working, not at you. Google’s own handling of that data is governed by Google’s privacy policy.

If you’d rather not be counted, Google publishes an opt-out browser add-on, and any tracker blocker will also do it. Nothing on this site breaks if you block analytics.

Affiliate links

When you click a product link, you go through our /go/ redirect to Amazon with our Associates tag attached. Amazon then uses its own cookies to know we referred you, so we get credited if you buy. We never see what you bought or who you are— we only ever see aggregate commission totals. Amazon’s handling of your data is theirs: see the Amazon privacy notice. Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard server request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) to serve pages and stop abuse.

What we don’t do

• No accounts, no logins, no profiles.
• No newsletter and no marketing email. We will never email you unless you emailed us first.
• We don’t sell, rent or share your personal information.
• No advertising networks and no retargeting pixels.
• Nothing is knowingly collected from children under 13.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR in the UK/EU, CCPA in California, and similar laws elsewhere), you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. Email info@chainringclub.comand we’ll do it. In practice the only thing we’re ever likely to hold is an email thread you started.

Cookies

The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and, once you click through, Amazon. We don’t set any of our own for tracking. Your browser settings can block or clear all of them, and the site works fine without them.

Changes

If this policy changes we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes get a note on the page rather than a silent edit.
